The West Australian Urologic Research Organisation (WAURO) is a not-for-profit research group with a difference. What’s unusual about us is that the majority of our board of directors are practising urologists – surgeons who regularly operate on the urinary tract, including treating cancer of the prostate, bladder, kidneys, testes and penis. Being involved in clinical practice – meeting, treating and caring for patients each and every day – means we’re ideally placed to collect and share important data, adapt existing methodology and help to develop brand new treatments to improve the care and outcome for patients |

suffering from all types of urological disease (both malignant and non-malignant). Also among our board members is one of WA’s leading surgical pathologists. So,as well as being close to patients, we also have the expertise and facilities to conduct laboratory-based research into new treatments and treatment protocols. WAURO is committed to supporting West Australian research in all areas of urological science – and to ensuring that substantive findings are progressed quickly into clinical practice to benefit patients across our State and beyond. |
