Closer to the patients.

Quicker to the answers.

The board and members of WAURO have a proven track record in urological research. Combined we have published over 150 original research articles and secured funding through competitive research grants (National Health and Medical Research Council, University of Western Australia, West Australian Cancer and Palliative Care Network) and private donations in excess of $2.5m. Our board members’ previous research spans all urological cancers, with an emphasis on investigating new therapies and treatments for prostate and bladder cancer. We have also played a key role in medical and nursing education and in the streamlining of diagnostic and rapid access cancer services in Western Australia. Achievements in pathology include the establishment of Australia’s largest radical prostatectomy database, and a WA biopsy database containing over 20,000 cases. Our main focus with WAURO is on ‘translational’ research. Through testing and fine-tuning existing protocols, as well as developing new treatments, our work is geared to bringing direct benefits to patients under care.
OUR PRIMARY FOCUS IS ON ‘TRANSLATIONAL’ WORK – RESEARCH GEARED TO BRING DIRECT AND TANGIBLE BENEFITS TO PATIENTS.
